As a rule, your business will be affected if you sell food that is potentially hazardous, ready to eat and NOT sold and served in the suppliers original packaging.

Food laws in NSW require food businesses in the hospitality and retail food service sector to have at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).

Businesses affected by the new Food Safety Supervisor certification are those who provide ready-to-eat food, not in it’s original packaging. This includes:

  • Restaurants
  • Cafes
  • Caterers
  • Bakeries
  • Hotels
  • Clubs
  • Supermarkets (hot food sales)
  • Takeaway shops
  • Mobile food vendors

Food Safety Supervisors must be trained by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Statewide Business Training is a NSW Food Authority approved RTO and has been delivering food handling units in a flexible and workplace based environment since 2002.
