Recognition of Prior Learning is offered to all participants prior to commencement of any training program. In broad terms this involves matching existing knowledge with the learning outcomes of a chosen course. If successful, a reduction in the actual training time can result.

Statewide Business Training Pty Ltd offers flexible training arrangements, Choose from on-the-job, off-the-job, by distance education/correspondence or any combination of all three via many up-to-date mediums and assessed by industry leading trainers.

The opportunity to combine work with training exists through flexible work-based learning. This can be undertaken wholly on-the-job and involves face-to-face assessments and or in-house workshops.. Participants do not leave the workplace so there is minimal impact to the business.

There are two main differences between an apprentice and a trainee. While both combine training with on-the-job presence, an apprentice is trained in a skilled trade (i.e. A Chef) and at completion of the apprenticeship will become a qualified trades person. A traineeship provides vocational education  in many areas such as, but not limited to, business administration, management and hospitality and can achieve a minimum Certificate II qualification.

There is no change to the terms of the employment for a permanent employee working over 21 hours per week. There is no change to the employee’s rates of pay or conditions. However, both the employer and trainee will be required to enter into a formal agreement with the Department of Education, Science & Training acknowledging the intention to undertake and complete the traineeship program.

A representative of Statewide Business Training Pty Ltd will liaise directly with a designated person in your company to ascertain the needs and objectives of staff training and development. While it is important that training undertaken in the New Apprenticeship Scheme satisfies the national benchmarks, there is a degree of flexibility and customisation that can take place. Statewide Business Training Pty Ltd  will provide this customisation service.

The Trainee’s learning program is determined after an assessment of current skills has been evaluated. The collected information is then ‘mapped’ against specific industry competencies at a particular level and a determination is made as to the current skill or competency level the candidate currently has and needs to work towards.

A formal training plan is prepared in consultation with the employer, trainee and workplace assessor. Where required, resources are provided and training and assessment timetables established. Regular workplace assessment and monitoring calls are made to the work site and results of learning are measured and documented along the way.

Competency is achieved when the specification of knowledge and skill, and the application of that knowledge and skill, is achieved to the standards of performance required in the workplace and against the industry benchmark. This new structure provides clarity for employees in identifying what is expected of them in their work role and what competencies they need to develop to advance their careers.
